چکیده

Abstract Background Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) species rarely cause vertebral osteomyelitis (VO). The clinical characteristics and radiological findings of NTM VO are not well described since the number cases limited. Here we present culture positive VO, compared to those tuberculous (TB) VO. Methods We performed a retrospective, multicenter study at 5 hospitals. Patients with radiologic consistent or TB cultures on biopsy were included. Demographic symptoms collected, along laboratory, radiologic, pathologic findings. Results Nineteen patients 105 M. intracellulare (52.6%) abscessus (26.3%) most common pathogens. mean age was significantly older in group (68.0 vs. 58.5 years, P = .01). Previous steroid immunosuppressant use more frequent (21.1% 2.9%, .01; 15.8% .046, respectively), as history surgery (47.4% 13.3%, < .001). Symptoms laboratory similar between 2 groups, although proportion interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) higher (14.3% 86.4%, Radiologic also similar, lumbar involvement being (57.9% 44.8%, respectively). Chronic granulomatous inflammation frequently seen (33.3% 64.0%, .04), while alone Although there no significant difference survival after 1 year, last follow-up (median, 24 months) lower (75.0% 98.8%, .02). Conclusion should be considered immunosuppression previous surgery. that Granulomatous IGRA tests than Disclosures All Authors: No reported disclosures.
